Tomorrow promises to be beautiful, but it will also be warmer and more humid than is typical this time of year. As always, we will have water and Nuun located at the start and every two miles until Mile 20, then every mile thereafter along the marathon course (Mile 9 on the half marathon course), and in the post-race festival area. Out of an abundance of caution, we, along with our VCU Health Medical Team will implement a flag/banner color system. We will have a colored banner tape displayed at the start, mile 4, and the medical tents which will indicate the level of caution to consider in attempting to complete your race. You have trained for this and we and the Richmond community are ready to cheer you on to the finish line!
Flag System
GREEN – Low risk. Great conditions. Green=Go for it!
Orange -Moderate risk. Consider a slower pace which is recommended to avoid heat illnesses.
RED -High risk. Please use extreme caution and implement a slower pace to avoid heat illnesses.
BLACK- This means extremely risky temperature conditions and this will signal race cancellation.
